Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! Since my last review back on May 6th, the portfolio has returned 31.7%, outperforming SPY by ~30% and SOXX by ~5.3%. Almost all of my core holdings contributed to this outperformance, along with several well-timed trades during the period. After a historic rally in semiconductors between April and June, I began to trim or exit several positions, rotating the proceeds into my next most promising theme — one I expect to outperform for the next five years (more on that below). When I last discussed my strategy, I mentioned that I’d completely exited my software and consumer defensive exposure — a move that paid off, since those positions would have been flat or negative over the period.
